Vanilla Almond Nectarine Milkshake

Hi! It’s Jilly. Raise your hand if you like milkshakes! Then this one will knock your socks off!
Vanilla Almond Nectarine Milkshake
September is National Shake Month. I thought it would be fun to kick off the month with our very own milkshake recipe, inspired by Johnny Rockets!
Hubby recently found nectarines for an amazing price, so we bought a ton of them. Hubby’s always finding amazing deals on things. Don’t even ask about his new TV. Just don’t. Ahem…anyway, back to the shakes! Ha ha!

I knew we wanted to use some of our nectarines. I also wanted to add some nuts for a little extra crunch. I polled my Facebook fans and the consensus was almonds. Sounds good to me! Add some vanilla ice cream, honey, vanilla, and a dash of cinnamon, and you’re good to go!

Servings: 1 large or 2 medium

Ingredients
2 nectarines- pitted, cut in eights, and frozen
1 ½ cups vanilla ice cream
¼-1/2 cups milk (adjust according to personal consistency preference)
1/8 cup thickly sliced or chopped almonds
½ tsp vanilla
1 tsp honey
Dash of cinnamon

Directions
1)      In a saucepan, toast almonds over medium-high heat, until you smell a nutty aroma and the almonds turn light brown. Be careful not to burn them!

2)      Add ice cream, milk, honey, and vanilla to blender and blend to desired consistency.
3)      Chop nectarines into large chunks. Add nectarines and almonds to the blender. Pulse a few times to mix in the fruit and nuts.
4)      Serve topped with whipped cream, and garnish with fresh nectarine pieces and almonds.

Adding a little chocolate to your glass is good, too.

The shakes were a big hit. The kids loved them! Michael said, “It’s so yummy I want to die!!” A little too much Despicable Me, perhaps?

Let me know if you make one of these yummy shakes for yourself! I’d love to hear about it!
